Our root furniture is hand crafted from the finest quality
solid teak root, making each piece totally unique and individual. Designed by
skilled craftsmen using techniques handed down over centuries.

Produced from sustainable forests on the Indonesian island of
Java, our teak trees are at least 70 years old. Our root furniture
is produced from trees buried during landslides following periods of
heavy rain. Bamboo canes up to 5 meters long are used to locate the
whole tree deep underground before the careful task of excavation
can begin. Some large
pieces (special order only) of root
furniture can weigh up to 1/2 tonne, whereas most stock items can be
carried by two people
Teak has been used for hundreds of years by shipwrights and carpenters to
withstand extreme weather conditions, due to the natural oil content,
which makes teak resistant to rot and therefore an ideal and practical
form of garden furniture.
Root sculptures are pieces of the natural root that will
compliment both our root furniture and provide a conversation piece in any
garden.
Teak root furniture can remain outside all year, our root
furniture is treated to maintain the natural colour and enhance the grain of the
wood. Untreated teak will take on a natural silvery appearance as it weathers.

As each piece is crafted from the whole root, no two pieces
are the same and dimensions will vary.
Root Sculptures with shelves
make ideal freestanding pieces for
use within the home as plant or ornament stands, or in the garden, as a
drink’s stand placed next to your root furniture.
The root is left in its natural state whilst the shelves are
treated to compliment the use and appearance of these pieces.
